Electroplated Britannia Metal • Lovely romantic Victorian biscuit barrel or cookie jar circa the early 1900s. • The makers mark on the bottom reads E.P.B.M. which stands for Electroplated Britannia Metal WR Canada with the numbers 972 below. • Beautifully intricate handle, lid knob, and feet • Front engraved in leaves and the word Biscuit
These were generally either triple or quadruple plated over base metal with almost the exact composition of pewter. According to my research, these are loved by both silver and pewter collectors alike as they can be cleaned up or left with the gorgeous patina that you see in the photos.
Condition: Wear consistent with age and use, some rust present, and there is a small dent on one side of the jar
